The document featured here is the official bio of Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong which lists his many achievements in aeronautics before and after he became the first man to set foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969.After his historic mission Neil Armstrong served as a member of the Apollo 13 accident review board which convened to investigate the cause of the April 1970 Apollo 13 oxygen explosion that crippled the spacecraft and puts its three crew members Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert in jeopardy before they safely returned to Earth.July 20 marks the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s historic mission where he (serving as Mission Commander) along with Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin flying the Lunar Module Eagle made the first successful landing and EVA on the lunar surface while Command Module Pilot Michael Collins flying the Columbia orbited the Moon.
