‘I have given and heard testimony that the mounting lovelessness in our culture and the fear it strikes in everyone’s heart. This despair about love is coupled with a callous cynicism that frowns upon any suggestions that love is as important as work, as crucial as our survival as a nation as the drive to succeed. Awesomely, our nation, like no other in the world, is a culture driven by the quest to love (it’s the theme of our movies, music, literature) even as it offers so little opportunity for us to understand love’s meaning or to know how to realize love in word and deed.’ - bell hooks I’ve been sitting on this passage ever since I first came across it in hooks’ book ‘all about love’. Gosh I have so so many different thoughts on this but the main one being - no matter how we find love - familial, romantic, friendly - it’s a quintessential part of our nature. Love, companionship, and community are all rooted in caring for one another and wanting the best for them. In an era when we’re more separated than ever, I hope you are taking time to tell the special ones in your life that you love them PS happy #caturday from this little cutie named Gidget that I’m looking after for this month (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZmYzUauvdf/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
