foreling: First Quest of our DnD party. Hey check out this very very good pic Fore did of the party I’m DM’ing for!Featuring Kentayuki’s Daka (Gith Monk), Coffuu’s Halle (Drach Bard), Foreling’s Brin (Dwarf Paladin), Laureldog’s Gullin (Centaur Ranger), and my Norael (dragon)! This specific place was Vára Forest, where they ran into dwarves arguing with kobolds over the land. The dwarves wanted the gems in the earth but a green dragon recently moved in with it’s following of kobolds. Nor was there as well, hired by the dwarves to deal with the dragon, and together they did deal with it! It was a very fun first game (tho it ended up splitting into two parts). Halle also got a very good kobold baby who was named Fig.I wanna keep talking about these guys so After that mess, Gull woke up to find his precious egg gone (his trinket item), figured Nor stole it, and they headed for the main capital of Hedgegarth, Muhndin. They found her at a tavern and Gull got his egg back. They were then approached by a wizard named Jay Peg. He needed their help and the next day they went to a village called Uphill, where they ran into Nor again and had to deal with oversized bugs ruining the fields. Turned out that was Jay Peg’s fault for experimenting on them. (Gull n Nor got dirty in the barn later.)Gull wanted to hire Nor to come with them and she said she needed some time to think about it. The party headed back to Muhndin to look for more quests. A man offered them a place in a quest guild but as they were following him through the forest they were tricked and ambushed by bandits and woke up in a arena way deeper in the forest. A half elf bandit king named Amre had them fight various monsters with the final one being Nor?? Turned out she goes there now and then to fight for sports. Amre’s pet Hydra broke loose and Nor turned into a big dragon to take it down and it was all very chaotic.Amre was captured and brought back to Muhndin where he was jailed. From this point on, Nor tagged along for real. Their next quest was to deal with more bandits at Oak Owl Inn. The place had no bandits but many ghosts, spectors, and a wraith. A cult had attacked this inn and sacrificed everyone in there for their ritual. One of the cultists got killed in the action and then came back as the wraith. They were dealt with and it was their first interaction with the Dark Star cult. Also acquired a little wooden statue of an owl that turns into a GIANT owl. After that they wanted something more challenging and found out about this Naga that’d been terrorizing Muhndin for some time, kidnapping people and enslaving them. They travelled to where it was located and had a very intense battle. The naga turned out to be affiliated with the Dark Star cult, and judging by what it said, would most likely revive within a certain amount of time. In it’s nest they found many items, two of them being dimension door knobs that could link two doors to each other if the doorknobs were inserted. They set up a door with one of the doorknobs there. So they had to come up with a plan to deal with this snake monster. Another one of the things they found in the naga’s nest was a imprisonment scroll. They just needed the components to use it and after some information gathering, decided to try and put it to sleep for forever using a special herb. They hopped on the giant owl and went to the swamps of West Galeland. There they searched for several days and had a run in with a green hag. She promised to help them if they gathered a few things for her. One of those things was a pearl, embedded in an altar in the swamp, trapping a bone devil in the material plane. The bone devil wanted to be set free so fighting was minimal until the pearl was removed. The party was rewarded with some items and the devil left. Pearl was presented to the hag who snatched it with no intention of upholding the deal, and caused Brin to attack. Brin delivered the final blow to the hag, then brought her back to life, and the hag gave them what they needed for the spell. On their way back, they decided to stop in East Galeland to visit Brin’s adoptive gnome sons, Gin and Ermin. They offered some help for their quest. They set up another door with the other doorknob and stepped through it to go deal with the naga. The naga was indeed alive and had set up a trap. The door lead into a crypt rather than where the nest had been. The naga had reinforcements this time, many cultists from the Dark Star, and planned to keep them there forever. This was the first actual dungeon they were in. They fought a lot and eventually found their way to the naga, who was communicating with their god Hlatr, speaking of a “marked one” in their group. The party burst in and the naga was put to sleep with the spell pretty much immediately. Most of the cultists were killed but they got one captive and brought it back to Muhndin. So THAT was finally dealt with and the next thing was p much a chill beach episode. I brought in a friend to play a character and create some chaos. There was a fishing contest going on as well and Brin was the winner, which was well deserved. After that they interrogated the cultist (who up until then had been uncooperative). The cultist was fighting some kind of possession and spoke of how he did not want to be in the cult, and that most of the lower rank members are in the same position. He shared a lot of information then begged them to go stop a ritual called the ‘donning of the skin’, supposedly about to go down in Tivar, a drach city in The United Petulivic Kingdoms. The party definitely wanted to stop this so off they go, except Nor had them stop up in the mountains, in Vorpal Valley, where her home is. So she could drop off things and make sure her hoard was safe still. This was pretty upsetting considering they were in a hurry. They also found Nor had some connection to the cult but seemed unaware of it herself? They argued for a bit, had to deal with some knights coming into the valley, then they were off to Tivar. In Tivar they didn’t waste time looking for the cultists, gathering any information they could. They eventually found a hidden passage in a library, that lead to an underground base of sorts. The ritual was already set in motion when they burst into the final chamber. They had a big fight and stopped their ritual. The final man standing was an elf named Vincent, who congratulated them, said they’d meet again, then disappeared into thin air. The captured people were freed and they had some time to enjoy Tivar before returning to Nor’s home in Vorpal Valley. At this point, Fore took over as the DM.Nor was shocked to find the valley filled with people and carts with equipment. Behind the scenes, Brin had been preparing to set up her own quest guild. There was a miscommunication between Nor and Brin which lead to Brin thinking they could set up in the valley. Nor was NOT okay with this and holed herself up in her home with her hoard, and Gull. The safety of her hoard is top priority, and she doesn’t trust that people won’t go talking about it and thinks for sure they’d steal it. She was offered the option to store her treasure in a safe. The other option was for her to move. They had to wait for a decision from her for several days. And several days it took for her to calm down. Brin was brought in and Nor revealed she was pregnant, which meant there’d be no moving anytime soon and she’d pick the safe option. Gull was ALSO informed of this, then the rest of the party. The guild Brin set up was named The Silver Bell, after the little bell Halle’s kobold Fig has (and rings passionately). And that’s where this party left off! We made new characters for Fore’s campaign. They came to the Silver Bell guild looking for work, and that guild is basically going to be the main hub for all our DnD characters and stuff. This became MUCH longer than I meant for it to be (and I still didn’t mention A LOT of things!) but I really enjoy playing DnD and I love these characters. The way I DM is very episodic and I will admit I can’t be the dream DM I have in my head but I’m doing my best and what’s most important is that the players have fun. -- source link
