This past year+ of making/sharing Girl Walk has turned us on to the wide world of dance that’s happening all over the world. One event/performance came to us by way of our friend (and photographer) Andy Vernon-Jones, is Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On, this Saturday, October 20th at 1:00 p.m. in The Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium, 2nd floor of the MoMA. Bel, an experimental choreographer, whose cerebral and theatrical works have evoked controversy in the past, creates pieces that break down the audience/performer boundary. His piece at the MoMA this Saturday integrates non-dancers (including Vern), and is a response to choreographer Steve Paxton’s three-week program, Some Sweet Day. Though a departure from dance that tells a story (like Girl Walk), this is another face of dance that’ll get you thinking, and uses shared space in a unique and innovative way. Go check it out! Note: The performance is free with the cost of museum admission. (Above photo from Andy Vernon Jones.) -- source link
