you might have noticed that the stands in the millerntor were red today instead of the usual brown and white. whole blocks of fans were holding up red versions of the club’s jolly roger flag as part of a movement explained in detail in english here. (kind of long and shittily translated but worth a read!) basically, fans are unhappy with how the club’s management are handling the financial pressures that accompany promotion to the top flight of the bundesliga, particularly the increased advertising and corporate presence in the stadium. they are planning boycotts, petitions, campaigns etc to combat and reverse it. and this is what i fucking love about this club. this is what sets them apart from the others. they are tiny and poor and they know they do have to make some concessions, but they try their best. and it sure makes survival a hell of a lot harder but at least we can sleep with a clean conscience. -- source link
