mypubliclands: Rain rain go away, but if you’re here to stay, I’ll still go out and play! Here is a collection of photos from my recent trip to the Grand Staircase Escalante-National Monument. Although originally there for one of the slot canyons, the surrounding storms and drizzly weather kept us to more open ground. Instead we opted to hike the interpreted Lower Calf Creek Falls trail, which follows a stream up to a beautiful desert waterfall with a soft sandy pool, and explore Devil’s Garden, full of hoodoos, stone goblins and delicate arches. Note: It is important to be aware of weather while out in these vast expanses, as storms a few miles away can create flash floods that quickly creep up on you. It is currently southern Utah’s flash flood season so please be extra cautious. -Iris Picat -- source link
