“Adideath“Linocut, 12x18 cmThe name refers to the cult brand of the Russian underground subculture “gopniki”, mixed with the “death”. A typical gopnik’s party involved dancing on a floor covered with cigarette butts and empty jars of cheap alcohol.In this work, the dancing figures stand in a circle, their angular legs forming a jagged silhouette. It is also a kind of figure of something light, littered with the junk of bacchanalia, trampled into the dirty floor of a suburban club or a gym.And because all that light has been broken and overthrown, the gopniki themselves are, in fact, already spiritually dead.
