Here’s a flex for those of you that don’t read my SUPER VALUABLE AND HELPFUL AND BRILLIANT captions and a few reasons why you’re not losing weight EVEN THOUGH you’re on super low calories for MY FAVOURITE PPL who do read my captions. LOVE YEW. K so I hear this so often I wanted to address why you may not be losing weight on restricted calories. If you’re on real low cals it might not just be metabolism (which you can’t actually damage, btw (you’re welcome)) that’s stopping you from losing weight, although metabolic adaptation is a very real thing and absolutely will make fat loss more difficult for you the longer you diet for, and if you are genuinely only eating like a sparrow all the time and not losing (and you want to), it’s time for a reverse diet. I digress. Here’s some other things to consider before you lower cals even more or start a reverse diet: Inaccurate calorie tracking. You’re probably not logging everything. Remember that your drinks have calories. That piece of candy has calories. The sip of this and bite of that has calories. Fruit has calories. Cooking oils have calories. You can easily take yourself out of a deficit just with little missed things like this. No deficit, no weight loss. Water weight. If it’s that time of the month or you’ve been sick or you’ve consumed a crap ton of salt you’re probably holding a bunch more water than normal which will make you heavier and can therefore mask your true weight loss. Saying all this I want to make something CRYSTAL CLEAR: weight is not everything. Frankly, at my age and height I am usually considered ‘overweight’ on the BMI scale (I say usually coz I just cut like 8 kilos). I couldn’t give two shits. I’m healthy, fit, and I’m strong. I plan on getting heavier. WITH MUSCLES. Please don’t fixate on the number on the scale. You are not defined by that number. The BMI scale do not take into account muscle mass. Muscle is denser than fat, therefore people with a higher amount of muscle than your average ‘skinny fat’ joe will seem to be overweight and have an ‘unhealthy’ BMI. So take it with a pinch of salt. It’s one of many tools for tracking progress but it does NOT show the whole picture. (at Norwich, Norfolk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQJpVdnjDSz/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
