Kim Beom’s 1st Chinese Movie to Hit Theaters on September 28Korean actor Kim Beom’s upcoming Chinese blockbuster is set to excite both Chinese and Korean moviegoers this fall.Kim’s first major foreign film “Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon” is opening in China on September 28 and in Korea on October 2, an official with the actor’s agency King Kong Entertainment told TenAsia on Friday.Directed by Hong Kong’s acclaimed director Tsui Hark, the upcoming film is a prequel to the 2010 hit mystery action “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame,” starring Hong Kong super-star Andy Lau.Co-starring Taiwanese actor Mark Chao, Hong Kong model turned actress Angelababy, Chinese actors William Feng, Lin Gengxin and Bingbing Li, the 3D film centers on young detective Dee (Chao) who sets out to investigate his first case about a mysterious sea monster.As the only Korean actor participating in the big project, Kim is taking on leading character named Yuan Zhen, a member of the Imperial family who holds the key to solving the case.According to U.S. news outlet Hollywood Reporter’s report in May, the film was sold to France and across Asia, including India, the Middle East, Thailand, the Philippines, Russia, Hong Kong, Singpaore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan, which is great news for Kim’s fans around the world.In the meantime, Kim has wrapped up shooting new Chinese TV series “V Love,” being called the Chinese version of U.S. series “Gossip Girl,” but its airing schedule and broadcaster is still in negotiations, the official with King Kong added.The actor, who turned 24 this July, is currently starring in MBC’s period-set drama “Goddess of Fire” along with Moon Geun-yeong, Lee Sang-yoon and Park Geun-hyung.Reporter.
