kat-blaque: chescaleigh: escapingoblivion: liamdryden: aconnormanning: chescaleigh: skeletoncenturies: I’m going to puke. yup. this is so appropriate given the rampant sexual assault in the YouTube community right? Dude Shane straight up this is beyond messed up…. what the fuck Hang on though guys… the girl’s the one wearing the obviously handmade shirt. Like why would anyone, but especially a girl who looks about 12, make a shirt saying that? I think what’s inappropriate here is the fact she’s made this shirt herself (presumably) and proudly worn it. It’s like she’s making a joke out of something that’s actually very serious. Something that could well have happened to someone she knows, but clearly because it hasn’t happened to her or anyone close to her (well we can assume it hasn’t if she’s making a joke out of it), then it’s okay to make a joke out of it regardless of how it could affect other people. This whole thing just makes me sick. Also I don’t even like Shane Dawson so I’m not trying to justify him posting this or anything, just saying that in this case it really seems to be the girl at fault. Yes, the girl clearly made the shirt. But she made it using jokes she learned from his content. He regularly makes jokes about rape and sexual assault in his videos. He even made numerous jokes about it after the first round of sexual assault complaints about YouTubers assaulting fans at meetups earlier this year, right before Vidcon. The point is he’s normalizing the ideas that this is a joke within his audience and then rewarding them when they regurgitate it. It’s no less upsetting because she made the shirt. He then shared this photo with a million fans on Instagram and they all laughed about sexual harassment. It was a poor choice on this girl’s part, but let’s not ignore where she learned it. Ugh am i really gonna have to come for another throat? -- source link
