After a few glasses of wine, mother tended to get sentimental, occasionally talking of things which were quite disturbing to a teenage boy. Talking of her love of femininity, going on to tell me that if my father was never around, that my younger childhood would have looked very different. That instead of action figures and GI Joe, that I would have grown up with Barbie dolls and Disney princesses. That instead of having gone to the baseball game on my most memorable of birthdays, mother envisioned haven rather taken me dressed as my “favorite” Disney princess, to meet them in person at Disney world. As you would expect, I would be aghast hearing such things, complaining “BUT I AM A BOY!?”Indifferent, mother would express that she didn’t care. That a mother has a right to raise he children as she wishes. More so, going further, telling me that my hair would never be any shorter than waist length, that I would have a wardrobe full of dresses. Perhaps most horrifying, insisting that if father wasn’t around, it would be boys that I was into, not girls. -- source link
