Cookies with Candied Violets! Or in my case, a mix of violets (the large purple ones) with fresh edible flowers. For those interested in making candied flowers from scratch, read under the cut :)Ingredients:Violet flowers (with stems attached)Make sure to buy ones that are edible safe (not from the florist section at a grocery store since those could be chemical treated)1 ½ cup water1 cup granulated sugarCaster/fine sugar (to dust)Optional: ¼ tsp almond extract or 1 tsp rosewaterSieve, Water Spray, Paper Towel, Pot, Tweezers, Wax Paper, ScissorsDirections:In a sieve, gently wash flowers w/ a spraySpread flowers on paper towel to dryHeat sugar & water until dissolved. If using the almond extract/rosewater, add to this mixtureUsing tweezers, dip each flower into sugar mixture Dust with the caster/fine sugar. Make sure flowers are completely covered.Cut stems off with scissorsLet flowers cool and dry on wax paper -- source link
