[Image Description: a digital painting of beau and jester from critical role, facing and smiling fondly at each other in the middle of a forest. rather than her usual blue skin and hair, jester looks almost human, with fairly pale skin and dark hair. she’s wearing a white blouse under a blue dress, and her feet are bare in the grass. she holds her left hand forward, towards beau, and the right is hidden behind her, clasping her cowlike tail. beau has the same brown skin and dark brown hair as her canon design, but doesn’t have an undercut, and is wearing a white shirt, blue vest and dark trousers, with a knife on her belt. both her hands are holding jester’s left hand. the background is shades of green, darker along the edges, and with a warm yellow light surrounding beau and jester. end ID] beau/jester week, day 5 - fairytales i always always loved folklore, and i keep getting kicks where i look at it more, one of which im in right now. so i couldnt resist fairytale au where jester is a hulder. who, for those unaware, is a norse forklore creature, this version generally a woman who looks just like a beautiful human, except - in the norwegian version, anyway, and im norwegian so thats the one im going with, and also that’s what fits jester - with a cow’s tail. they trick human men to come with them, kidnapping them or leaving them lost in the middle of nowhere, but if you see her tail/back/non-human features, it breaks her spell over you and you see her real looks (which are supposed to be frightfully ugly but honestly i think Some People are just cowards. but thats besides the point)the hulder people sometimes live in societies of their own, or they try to integrate with humans, sneakily. so for this au, which obvs requires some tweaking to fit, but bear with me. i imagine jester on her first trip out amongst the humans, having stayed at her hulder village with her mama all her life, now she’s meant to go and tempt some human man somehow. but instead she meets beau. who is entirely taken with her, as is jester, in return. they hang out, and jester doesn’t want to trick beau into anything, but is also scared of what she’ll think of she figures out what jester really is. finally, beau does end up seeing her tail, or maybe jester just tells her, and perhaps this is when she turns out to look like canon jester, all blue and horns and everything. but beau still likes her, and honestly her family kinda sucks anyway, so she wouldnt mind just… coming to live with jester and her mama? and so they do. and they have a beautiful wedding in the forest, attended by all manner of supernatural creatures roaming about.  -- source link
