riseofwives: “You sure you want to do this? We can still back out…” I asked, as I held her hand in mine - thinking with one last hope that she might reconsider. Of course I knew her answer, though, already… “What? No, of course not,” she snapped back, obviously a little nervous herself. She’d been thinking about this, hoping for this, looking forward to this for months. We’d saved and saved and saved and finally - for her birthday, my present to her - here we were. A few of her friends had gone through this already, she’d told me, their first Neural treatment. They’d loved it! It was like a whole new world, they’d said, they felt fantastic. The science was beyond me, but I knew it served to enhance intelligence, and most who went through it scored much higher on a whole battery of testing and found themselves, cognitively, on a whole new level. It was only for women, of course - like so much of this new technology that was appearing. Just like the series of treatments she had done earlier this year, that started her growing again - what was she? 5’9” at this point? Nearing 5’10”? They had also improved her strength and vitality and…well, so much… “I know you’ll like these…” she had said, unzipping her sweater that first night. Yes, they had grown, already, in just that first day. And as they continued to burgeon, week by week, she used them to placate my growing unease, my nervousness…she really was getting stronger than me, wasn’t she? And now…now…now she was going to be smarter than me, too, wasn’t she? After this treatment, she’d be…new. I mean…I should be excited for her, right? Happy? This could help us, in so many ways. I’d heard about it from a couple guys at work whose wives had done it. They’d scored promotions at work, all sorts of stuff. One guy even left the company, left his job, told by his wife to quit, now that her job paid so much. Now, my wife doesn’t work - nothing serious, at least - so I don’t have to worry about that. Unless she decides to go back, finish her law degree… well, whatever, we’ll see… -- source link
