Here’s a picture I took tonight of Mizar and Alcor.To the naked eye they look like a double star system, but when viewed through a telescope you start to resolve them enough to see there’s more than meets the eye.They are actually a star system composed of SIX (6) stars!In this image I took you can see Alcor on the left, it does have a smaller red companion star that you can’t see here.Whilst Mizar on the right, has 3 other stars close by, one of which is clearly visible.The small star at the top of the screen is just a background star far, far of in the distance! -- source link
