During April 25th 1974, the armed forces overthrew the regime, and took over a radio station to signal the operating soldiers via radio when to start acting. The way they did this, was by airing songs forbidden by the state, which after the dictatorship was overthrown in the following events, became very popular. The most famous one became like an anthem, and is still sung today on protests, especially in the euro crisis context. -- source link
