hausoftruecrime: The Strange Disappearance of Timmothy Pitzen Six-year-old Timmothy Pitzen of Aurora, Illinois, was a happy, adored little boy who loved to play baseball with his father James and sing along to music on the radio. His family unanimously describe him as “absolutely cherished” by his parents; his mother, Amy (43) was known to struggle with depression at times, but not once did anyone think she would be a danger to Timmothy or herself. On May 11, 2011, Amy signed Timmothy out of kindergarten class in the middle of the morning - she gave no reason for doing so, and did not tell her husband that she was taking him out. She drove him to an auto repair store and then to the zoo, before checking into a resort - by then Timmothy’s father had reported them both missing, and even though Amy’s phone was working she ignored his frantic calls and texts. The next day Amy and Timmothy travelled to Wisconsin where she checked them into another resort. While there she called several family members and told them that she and Timmothy were safe and not in any trouble - in the background of the recorded calls he can be heard asking Amy for food. The calls are the last known trace of Timmothy alive. A few hours later Amy was caught on camera in a store buying stationary and paper, but Timmothy is not with her. That night she travelled back to Illinois and checked into an inn, again without Timmothy. The next morning, May 13, Amy was found dead in her room. She had slashed her wrists and throat in apparent suicide. No trace of her son or his belongings were in the room, but she had left a few notes that seemed to imply Timmothy was still alive - she claimed he was being taken care of by “people who loved him” but also ominously wrote that “nobody will ever find him”. Timmothy’s blood was found in the backseat of her car, but it’s unknown if they were recent or caused by a bleeding nose he’d had several months before. Authorities were initially hopeful that Timmothy was indeed safe with other people, but as the days turned to weeks with no sign of him, other theories began to take shape. Another examination of Amy’s car revealed she had recently driven through long grass and mud before committing suicide, and soil tests revealed the car had recently been in an area with a pond or stream - it’s believed that Amy, after killing Timmothy, might have disposed of his corpse in a body of water. Until there is a breakthrough in this puzzling case, it’s unlikely we will ever know the fate of little Timmothy Pitzen -- source link
