pictureamoebae: THATCHED - a ReShade preset for The Sims 4 by amoebaeHenford-on-Bagley is a beautiful world let down by less-than-beautiful lighting. Thatched is my attempt to provide a more balanced colour palette that better suits the lush, rolling farmland and rich vegetation, while having that little bit extra for special screenshots that utilise the stunning sunrises and sunsets.Cottage Living’s world leans heavily blue-green, and neutralising that was my first priority. Greens are more natural, shadows less blue, the sky less vivid, while still remaining colourful and bright. The base preset is lightweight and simple to use, with all colour changes contained in several hand-crafted LUTs that you can switch between while playing. Some are quite similar to one another, with differences only really noticeable at different times of day. Thatched excels early or late in the day, but even in the harsh midday sun this preset helps create a more traditional farmland vibe.As always with my presets, Thatched comes with optional extras that can be toggled on or off to help create the perfect atmospheric screenshot. If you’ve used my presets before, you’ll be familiar with how I set up MXAO and Cinematic DoF, Adaptive Fog and Depth Haze, as well as various Bloom shaders, and more recently RadiantGI. Each of these effects has its place, and sometimes you’ll only want to use a couple of them, whereas other times you might find yourself layering them all. Either way, I recommend experimenting with different combinations at different times of day until you find that perfect recipe.—An album of images using Thatched: https://imgur.com/a/bljTLdP—Full installation and usage instructions are included in the download.
