thedrivethru:asynca:So don’t give them back to our oppressors by telling other queer folks we can’t use those words for ourselves <3 Hmmm… There’s a word missing here….. I wonder what it is…. I wonder why they couldn’t write it……… As if it wasn’t their word to claim or use…. Makes me wonder how much right they have to use the other slurs present here…. Lol………. Hey all, I don’t use tumlger that much anymore, but theres a lot of discourse on this post! And i’m gunna be clear about some stuff. You’re very right here drivethru! I didn’t use any words that I’m not comfortable with nor ones that I felt I shouldn’t say. The mystery word you’re referring too I believe belongs to people other than me. I have been called queer and dyke in a negative way. So they are more personal to me- and in this comic I was stating my own feelings on the matter.(And for the record, for all those who mentioned it in the comments, pussy isn’t a slur per se.. but people are often negatively effected by it- and those of us who are gender variant may very well want to make it into a positive rather then it’s often negative use.)I’d also like to note that this comic has only four lines, not a lot to accurately state all of my feelings. But I wanted it to be somewhat abstract, and I think many people can appreciate that. It allows personal interpretation.Initially I put my further feelings in the tags rather than comments, and I think thats a disservice. I don’t believe we should go around forcing the label of queer unto people who do not want it. Many folks do have a difficult history with the word to say the least. People are going to use words for us we don’t like, or that hurt us. Its fucking awful. However, I’m very supportive of those of us who reclaim terms FOR OURSELVES. I use queer for myself- and my friends, peers, and strangers who expressly want to be called it. And only then. That’s all, be well. -- source link
