I’ve said this before, but I think the biggest thing that three houses was missing was supports for the lords with each and every character that can join their housethey don’t just come for byleth, the join the house and stay with the side through war and strife and societal upheaval for the most part (aside from the handful of characters who abandon their house even if you recruit them for a few circumstances)and the respective lords are a massive part of thatedelgard’s ideals and choices and struggles are something everyone who joins her side could speak to, talk about, almost everyone is harmed by the systems of fodlan, or occasionally benefits from…and that’s not even considering the many other character traits that she could bond with the other students regarding (ignatz and edelgard need to bond over painting god dammit)claude’s outsider’s perspective and challenge to the xenophobia of fodlan is also something that basically everyone who can join the deer could speak to, could contrast with and deal with and understand and struggle, and similarly that’s not even considering his other personality traits and dynamics that could be explored if he had more than just a short list to work withdimitri’s struggle is more personal, largely because his story (in my relatively limited knowledge) is really just bent towards a different goal than the others (in a way it’s almost…not a different genre, per se, but just a very different type and texture of story), but that doesn’t mean that everyone who follows him even in his darkness wouldn’t have something to say about that, or about so many other aspects of his character.if you couldn’t tell I feel strongly about this point lmao -- source link
