psychanddeath: Photographs shown in court of 22-month-old Cooper Harris’s body who was murdered by his father, Ross Harris, after he was purposely left inside Ross’s SUV for 7 hours with the windows wound up while it was 85 degrees outside. Ross Harris would sometimes go to a cafe with Cooper for breakfast before Cooper’s daycare. This is exactly what they did on the day of Cooper’s death on June 18, 2014, however, instead of driving straight to daycare after breakfast to drop Cooper off, Ross drove to work almost as if it was a regular day. At around 12:30 that afternoon, Ross left work to take a short trip to a local Home Depot store to buy lightbulbs. Ross claimed that he did not notice Cooper in the back seat, nor did he hear anything. After going to the store, Ross went back to work. It wasn’t until a few hours later at 4:30PM that Ross discovered his son’s lifeless body slumped in his car seat. Cooper had died from hyperthermia and dehydration. The medical examiner during the trial explained how Cooper’s death would have been torturous; ‘I believe he went through various stages as he was slowly passing away, ‘he would’ve experienced nausea, a headache, dehydration, seizures, and anxiety.’ Ross claimed that his son’s death was a tragic accident and in fact claimed that he had simply ‘forgotten’ to drop Cooper off at daycare. Despite his claim, Ross was arrested put on trial for murder. It was uncovered that Ross had been looking up ’animals dying in cars’ online. The prosecution argued that he had left Cooper in the car purposely, as a way to ‘get rid’ of him so he was free to divorce his wife and have no responsibility’s afterwards. Ross Harris was found guilty of ‘malice murder’ of his 22-month-old son, Cooper Harris, and was also found guilty of sending sexts to a teenage girl and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. -- source link
