We got her back! We were briefly allowed to revisit our apartment to search for our kitty Neufchatel, and there she was, lonely and hungry. She probably had a terrible headache, too, since the whole place smelled of smoke. Just a few minutes in there made me feel really sick.Going in there, it made my girlfriend and I realize how close we were to losing everything. If the fire had gone on for just a minute or two longer, if they hadn’t stopped it in the ceiling above our unit, the inside of our apartment would have burst into flame and Neufchatel and everything we own would be gone. We were so lucky it didn’t come to that. The people in the four units beside ours weren’t so lucky. Thank goodness to the firefighters who worked hard to get the fire out quickly; without their response, I hate to think where we’d be. -- source link
