beabaseball: @shinyrock6498 Riku had wanted to explore other worlds. Kairi wanted to go find her original one. Sora wanted to make his friends happy. …They stay on their play island many long hours without talking about going back to the main islands. Back to the homes Sora and Riku spent two years trying to find. But when the sun was getting low and they knew it was time, Sora was nowhere to be found. (Riku almost started crying as soon as he realized.)They split up to search for him. It was a small island. It couldn’t take long. But Kairi was the one to find him first, curled up under the Paopu tree, watching the sunset with his knees pulled up to his chest and looking small in a way she hadn’t seen before. Not even when they were kids and he really was small. Not when he’d seen Riku was safe and collapsed at the sight of him. “…I don’t have my old clothes,” he said when Kairi sat down beside him. “You know. When Riku and I were trapped, I didn’t think about it. We could be happy knowing you all were safe and we’d go on together in the darkness.” Kairi didn’t tell him she wouldn’t have been happy with that. She’d tell him that later, when it didn’t look like he was about to shake apart.“I didn’t think about it, but…” His hands–they’d grown as much as the rest of him–went to his chest and tugged at the magic clothes he wore. “…I lost my pijamas when I got this. …Mom’s… gonna want to know where they are.”Kairi had an adoptive dad here on the islands. Sora’s mom worked in his building. Like everyone else, she hadn’t noticed her son being gone. Sora now, truly, started to shake, and Kairi pulled him into her arms and ran her fingers through his hair. “She’s going to ask me… where I’ve been…” -- source link
