sjuarchives: Precious and Pleasant Riches: Item of the Week The Paintings of Chen Dan-Cheng (Chen Tan-Cheng) 陳丹誠 Chen Dan-Cheng (1919-2009) was a prominent artist originally from Shandong province, China, who arrived in Taiwan in 1949. He was well known for his impressionistic-style flower and insect paintings. He served as Chairman of the Department of Fine Arts at the College of Chinese Culture in Taiwan, was a member of the Chinese Academy where he served as professor, and was a winner of the Golden Chueh awarded by the Chinese Painting Association. His work was displayed in an exhibition at St. John’s University in November 1968 to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s birthday. He donated numerous paintings to the University for its permanent art collection.
