Artemis (Αρτεμις) was the Olympian goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon and chastity in Greek mythology. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of girls up until the age of marriage whereas her twin brother Apollo (god of prophecy) was the protector of boys. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease with Artemis targeting women and girls, Apollo men and boys. She was often depicted with her bow and arrow, signifying the wild and untamed aspects of human life.(Ziad Nakad Fall 2018 Haute Couture Collection) -- source link
