Last year, I bought my first Kate Spade bag, with paycheque money from my first ‘real, grown-up’ job, as a birthday gift for myself. Candace is my personal symbol of adulthood and beauty, my first 'real, grown-up’ accessory. Candace travels with me almost every day, carrying heavy books and ziplocked breakfasts. She saw me through long days and first dates, accompanied me to new places, and sat on my best friend’s apartment floor countless times. Through spills and scrapes, she’s always been a comforting friend to hold – and has held many things for me. No matter the day, her palette brings me a little boost of confidence and joy. It’s touching to see so many others share their own stories about KS bags and clothing, and I’m glad we’re all commemorating the work of such an extraordinary designer.
