So…you’ve seen photos of the Grand Canyon before. There’s an obligatory photo of myself at Grandview (thank you stranger who took that for me!) This morning, after freezing in my tent at the Kaibab forest, I took advantage of being up so early and went to see the sunrise at the canyon. In one of the panoramas the sunrise, you notice the large group huddled on Mather’s Point. I didn’t want to deal with the crowd and hopped down on the ledge out into the canyon to get a better view by myself. I’m pretty sure I made it into some people’s sunrise shots (sorry!). After that, I went to Hermit’s Rest Trail and went down to Dripping Springs. Along the way, the trail was a bit…shady…but in a good way. The challenge was a welcome one! Met some people along the way, including two Trek America guides on their day off (Nice meeting you two!). I also got a bit distracted along the way by the rock formations. Especially what appeared the be the fossilized remains of organic matter in sandstone. Kind of awesome! Grandma would have loved it! Though the 1440ft descent hurts going back up. The views were incredible! In the last photo, you’ll notice a faint trail at the very center of the photo. Next time, I’m going there. -- source link
