This is the first time I’ve ever brought this up - you might be surprised to know (or not), but I exhibited selective mutism as a kid. That means I was perfectly capable of speaking to family at home, but at school I wasn’t able to talk, and we’ll never know why. I was 4 years old but I remember it very well. I didn’t know the term back then, or that it is an actual disorder. No one thought it was a big deal since I got better by the time I was 6. But I think this gives some insight on why I’m the way I am now. I’m normally quiet. If I’m in a situation where I’m expected to talk (like a party or calling strangers), I might get lowkey anxiety even if I’m unaware of it. It may have paved the way for my poor self-confidence, inability to socialize, and my introverted nature. I’m not afraid to admit who I was and I’ve worked to improve all this time.Anyways it got me thinking that this could make a good foundation for a comic/zine if I have the dedication some day to draw it.~ xD -- source link
