It’s bicycle-flower time! In French, “perdre les pédales” (literally “losing the pedals”) is an expression similar to “losing your grip”, when you lose control of a situation, or even when you get a little bit crazy. But, in French as in English, if you replace one letter in “pedal”, it makes “petal”. So “losing the pedals” become “losing the petals”, and even if it still sounds almost like the expression used to talk about getting crazy, it now refers to the flower game “loves-me, loves-me not”. Do you have any equivalent flower game in your language / culture? The game where you pull the petals off a flower one by one to see if the luck tells you whether your lover loves you or not. I know that in English it’s a simple “yes / no” game, in French you have different gradations: she/he loves me… “a little bit” - “a lot” - “passionately” - “madly” - “not at all” and so forth… How is it played in your country? https://instagr.am/p/CNDZHEQrMIE/ -- source link
