Lispenard Street in Tribeca on a cloudy day. The street in named for Leonard Lispenard who owned a 70 acre meadow and farm in this area when there was a swamp located here that was called a “quagmire”, it was full of briers and bushes. In the late 1700s Lispenard’s meadows were used for cow grazing and were prized for its “rich grass.” -- source link
