aegosexual-moments: tryhardrat: johnthestitcher: architecturealliance:Canadian Architect Cornelia Oberlanders designed the world’s first “Stramp”. Stairs with a ramp incorporated for those with accessibility needs. The Stramp allows for companions to use the ramp or steps and not break connection with one another. We need more designs like this. I am amazed by the number of buildings that are ‘accessible’ but all that means is they have one handicapped parking space. no. we need actually accessable architecture. this design is awful and prioritises looking nice over function Yeah in the US you need 10 feet for every foot in Rise, and there’s no way this follows that. At least for new buildings. I went around my downtown a few months ago looking for ADA violations and the hill leading up to the big public library was like this in its lack of proper rise for its length. -- source link
