ruler501: follower-of-liliana: So now that the spoilers are over, I would like some feedback on this spell. I tried a bunch of different wordings and costs, but I think I’m getting there. What do you think? Is this tutor extreme for white? Is the card advantage too much? And more importantly, would you run it in your deck?Tagging @commandertheory because it was made with EDH in mind. I think it’s too strong to print at pretty much any cost. You could pretty easily fetch two different combos or one with redundancy or protection. Doomsday or Diabolic Revelation are probably the closest to this but Doomsday doesn’t draw them and is generally just completely busted and revelation requires X of 5 so 10 mana. It also might be one of the best card advantage cards ever in white, 5 mana draw (potentially) 5 is really good even for blue. I also don’t think mono white can tutor for arbitrary creatures, artifacts, or lands. Enlightened Tutor gives access to any artifact. Since then that’s moved more into blue, but white still gets equipments and I don’t think it’s too big of a stretch to give it any artifact at a high cost. White currently only tutors for small creatures/tribal creatures and basic lands though. On the other hand, colorless gets inefficient tutoring at high costs.I think it’s pretty much always possible to find a cost to a card that’s fair, it just might be much more than is reasonable to see in a game. For example, Ring of Three Wishes puts three cards in your hand for 15 total mana. If that were done all at once it would probably be a similar power level, so maybe something like a 10WW spell wouldn’t be broken or too much of a color pie bend -- source link
