Top Gun (1986) This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals. Top Gun has two brief shots that show strobe lights on airport runways in darkness. One sequence late in the film shows a few close-ups of the muzzle flashes from machine guns. There are several sequences filmed on board real fighter jets, which fly through extensive complex maneuvers including barrel rolls, dives, and loops. Because this is all real, it’s very likely to be disorienting. Shots inside these jets are almost always filmed with shaking cameras.Flashing Lights: 6/10. Motion Sickness: 10/10.
