enjoloras: Soooooo as usual the amazing @boopliette never fails to stun me with her art! She’s a dream to commission and her stuff continues to blow me away every time.-This is the portrait that features in ‘Chasing a Ghost’ (and the sequel, rather heavily…) of Enjolras and Camille! It’s a source of…some contention in the Enjoltaire household. It was painted when Grantaire still harboured a lingering trace of idolisation for Enjolras, the remnants of that sense of worship that did, eventually, fade into real, genuine, human love and affection.Enjolras likes it because he’s painted looking masculine, because Camille is in it, because it is technically beautiful and Grantaire painted it……and hates it because ‘You made me look like a male Madonna and child!’ - the saintly aspects of it make him quite uncomfortable. Like, that is straight up a halo! R’s defence is that he was raised with a very religious father so it ‘Just came out that way. Sorry.’ (He also maybe cracks a joke about how Enjolras conceiving Camille the very first time he had sex is ‘the closest thing to a virgin birth we’ll see in our lifetime!’, which does not go down particularly well…)It sits above the dining room fireplace for the next god knows how many years nonetheless, and later in the parlour of the rooms at Place Royale. -- source link
