followthecreeper: I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to meet Alexi and talk to him several times. He was always nice and polite and obviously had so much respect for his fans; I think of the shows he did in the past where he felt terribly sick but would rather just continue playing after running off and puking blood because he didn’t want to disappoint anybody. I have seen Children of Bodom live around 13 times. My oldest photo I have with Alexi is from 2011, I was 15 and so nervous I couldn’t stop shaking. This man’s music and strength have inspired me and helped me through a lot since I was a teenager. I’ll always remember this interview where Alexi says that he decided to open up about his mental health issues because he hopes it might help someone to hear him talk about it. That if there’s at least one kid out there he can help, it will be worth it.I am that kid; one of those kids. One of many. Alexi has inspired a great lot of people to start doing music, start playing the guitar, fight their demons or just follow their dreams whatever they be. Music was his life and his love and through that love he has given many of us the strength to go on and change for the better.Rest in peace, sir. In your 41 years you achieved more than many would in twice as many. You’ll live on through your music and through everyone who will remember you with gratitude and fondness. -- source link
