And the real-life Luis and/or his friends did try to (kinda subtly?) convert Nobu, obviously to no effect. There actually was a church in Kyoto, and a seminary of all things in Azuchi Castle. To which Nobu randomly dropped by for a visit a few times, just for fun.Sometimes I wonder, when Japanese developers have “Christmas” stories in historical-themed apps, why they hardly ever mention the religious background. Not even just an offhand “Oh its some foreign god that we don’t understand". Is it purposefully avoided for some reason (to avoid offending religious people, to avoid making non-religious people uncomfortable, etc)? I’ve heard that many Japanes today actually genuinely had no idea, but IDK. The Christmas comic I mentioned. Wow this is 4+ years ago. I can’t believe this is that old, I thought I made this recently.So I wasn’t entirely wrong. All the Christmases that was recorded in the Sengoku were Catholic Mass Christmases, and I don’t believe there’s enough merchant/secular European presence to have the “eat drink and be merry” kind of Christmas parties. -- source link
