We’re right in the middle of the summer wedding season (although Zoom weddings are currently the norm), so this Friday our staff wanted to highlight some of the wedding photos in our archives! We have a surprising number of photographs in our collection taken by Washington University staff documenting the nuptials of their family, friends, and coworkers in foreign countries. From top to bottom: VC208253 This photo shows nursing officer Meredith Harback of the 21st General Hospital (stationed in Algeria during World War II) holding a bouquet of wedding flowers. Harback was a friend of the bride, Lieutenant Marjorie Lovell, who married Lieutenant D.C. McBride in 1944 while serving overseas. VC170441 This photo featuring a 1963 wedding party in Uganda was taken by Dr. Mildred Trotter, a WU anatomy professor and world-renowned physical anthropologist. VC137365 E.V. Cowdry, Washington University’s head of anatomy, is the tall gentleman standing in the back of this photo. Standing to his left is his wife Alice. The Cowdrys attended this flower-filled wedding ceremony in India in 1952. -- source link
