I made my annual pilgrimage to the Mason-Dixon Historical Park this morning to pay homage to Mertensia virginica, the Virginia bluebells. Upon reaching peak bloom in Mid-April, this gorgeous spring ephemeral cascades down the gentle, rich slopes above Dunkard Creek in fantastic waves of blue. Too bad the plant’s dazzling green foliage goes dormant in early summer. -- source link
