“10, 9 , 8, 7, 6….” the crowd counted down, now, for a second time. Bart, whose friend wouldn’t give me his last name, had climbed up the street pole and was being encouraged to jump. He hesitated. The crowd reassured him that they would catch him, unlike the last person whose body slipped through mutliple upright hands and nearly missed a catastrophic contact with street asphalt. “5, 4, 3, 2, 1,” Bart jumped. His body floated effortlessly above a a sea of endorphin filled Cubs fans that just witnessed their team win their division title. I’m happy to say that Bart lived.
