What do we mean when we talk about gender dysphoria and euphoria? We broke them down into three categories: cognitive, social, and body dysphoria/euphoria. The journey of self-acceptance and living as your authentic self is complicated and full of obstacles sometimes, but we hope this framework helps better understand where your feelings are coming from!⁠⁠Cognitive Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on your internalized self perceptions. Do you accidentally misgender yourself? Do you feel accepting and loving towards your authentic self?⁠⁠Social Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on other people/society’s perceptions of you, whether that be being misgendered, or feeling safe and comfortable with your chosen family. How does the outside world’s perceptions impact the way you feel about yourself?⁠⁠Body Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on your physical comfort in your body and perceptions, and whether or not your body “feels right” from how you feel inside.
