What do we mean when we talk about gender dysphoria and euphoria? We broke them down into three categories: cognitive, social, and body dysphoria/euphoria. The journey of self-acceptance and living as your authentic self is complicated and full of obstacles sometimes, but we hope this framework helps better understand where your feelings are coming from!Cognitive Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on your internalized self perceptions. Do you accidentally misgender yourself? Do you feel accepting and loving towards your authentic self?Social Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on other people/society’s perceptions of you, whether that be being misgendered, or feeling safe and comfortable with your chosen family. How does the outside world’s perceptions impact the way you feel about yourself?Body Dysphoria/Euphoria: is based on your physical comfort in your body and perceptions, and whether or not your body “feels right” from how you feel inside. How does your relationship to your body make you feel? What makes you feel most held and seen? What causes you discomfort?
