sarahhaley101:tinysaurus-rex:ramseyringnecks:watisairanymore:aquanite:aquanite:When your pigeon lays an egg in your lap…Reblogging to hopefully circulate this again with some facts since apparently 99% of people are confused about birds:1) When birds trust their owner, they will often lay their eggs around/on them. It’s very sweet and not at all gross. The eggs are exactly like chicken eggs but smaller. No I don’t eat them (because I hate eggs). They’re unfertilized (I don’t have a male pigeon) just like them too!2) People have pet pigeons, it’s not out of the ordinary. And since most comments I get are “ONLY WHITE PEOPLE”…most pige owners I know are poc. So ok.3) Pigeons are not “trash birds”. They’re very smart, clean and wonderful companion birds. She lays in my lap more than any cat I’ve ever had. :| Yes, she poops, but that’s why there are things like Kleenex (and there are pigeon “pants”, aka diapers).4) COO COO, BITCHLook at the smile on that birds face.A lovely, very satisfied pigeon who loves her person.Rex laid an egg on my chest while I was napping once.Let’s put it into perspective :DPeople wouldn’t call doves ‘dirty’ or ‘trash birds’, right? But guess what? :D Pigeons are a type of dove with coloring! They’re really called Rock Doves. They’re only thought of as being gross because they are most often seen in cities – their coloring helps them blend in, and also a lot of ‘pretty’ doves are elsewhere, in captivity, or they are in the city but not as common. You wouldn’t call a dove dirty would you? And you wouldn’t judge someone for owning a dove as a pet right? :D Be nice to these birbs, they are doves too :D -- source link
