“Ercolani Arcades”, Senigallia (AN), Italy. Photo: © Wolfram Mikuteit The Ercolani Arcades are one of the urban elements that most characterize the city. Their name is reminiscent of Monsignor Giuseppe Maria Ercolani who designed them in neoclassical style in the mid-eighteenth century on commission of Pope Benedict XIV. They run along the entire right side of the Misa river which flows near the historic center, extending into 126 Istrian stone arches. -- source link
