“I need to make a chicken look royal.” Those were my instructions when I walked into @adorama looking for a crimson backdrop for the portrait seen above. While prepping for my story on @handsomebrookfarm ’s pasture-raised eggs I knew I wanted to elevate the chickens to a more esteemed place. I made an inspiration folder with background and lighting references to Rembrandt’s work, like the ‘Portrait of an Old Man in Red’ seen above on the right.
