If Ami was a real person, due to her extremely high IQ, she would most likely be a high-functioning autistic savant. Considering the fact she always had difficulties to socialize and to both express and understand feelings (at least in comparison to the other senshi, that is), there are chances (albeit small) it might be the case. It makes her previous loneliness all the sadder, but her reunion and friendship with the other senshi all the more heartwarming. -- source link
