twogranniesandanaxe: Nephele is the generic name for the cloud nymphs. There are different stories about Nephele. One says she was created by Zeus to trick Ixion, a man who wanted Hera. Also, in other tale Nephele is married to a man, Athamas, who divorces her for Ino. Nephele had a boy and a girl, Phrixus and Helle, who were hated by Ino. She tries to get rid of them but Nephele sent a golden ram in their rescue. This golden ram would later be, yes, the infamous one which had the Golden Fleece in the gret adventure of the Argonauts ^_^ For the Romans, these nymphs would be called “Nubes”. Guess how we say “clouds” in Spanish? Yes, that way ;) -- source link
