chantelligentdesigns: The final installment for my Mythological Woman series. :) Here is the Inuit Goddess, Sedna. She is the creation goddess for animal and plant life under the sea. “The water was so cold that it made her bones ache and crushed the air from her lungs. She tried so hard to cling to the boat edge but her father had cut through her fingers and sent her spiraling down into the deep. She doesn’t see her severed fingers drift away, doesn’t see them reshape and grow and breathe, doesn’t see when they turn to living flesh and become the great creatures of the sea. When she drags in a breath it’s all sea-water and she chokes, the blood from her hands twisting around her like cord. But by the time her feet touch the bottom of the sea, she’s no longer just a girl. The water that drowned her has already become her own and any desire to return to the surface is gone.“ -ManticoreImaginary -- source link
