TW for rape, sexual assault“SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - First Lt. Heather Nelson would love to live in a world free of assault and violence. But in today’s society, that appears to be quite an undertaking. For now, she wants to do it one step at a time; one person at a time.“If we can change just one person’s future, stop one future assault or prevent one person from experiencing violence in their life, I will consider that a win,” said Nelson, an Air Force Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities project engineer. She volunteered to be one of the two Schriever coordinators of Green Dot, the Air Force’s new violence prevention program. Nelson helped create the strategic plan for reaching the base population and getting people excited about the new program. She will be tracking base completion and helping manage a team of instructors as well as teaching lessons and workshops.“Green Dot is important to me because so many people in my life have been affected by sexual assault. It’s a tragically unfortunate part of our culture right now, and it is something that no one should ever have to experience,” she said.Read First Lt. Heather Nelson’s story here -- source link
