You stand there before meDressed in white,Crisp and clean,So bright that it hurtsTo watch for long.You watch as the butterflyLands upon your slim finger,Calm and trustingThat you will not cast it away;A flick of your finger,A lash of your handTo send it tumbling downOnto the needle grass.You keep stillAs the thrumming beatOf its wings settles;Amber sprinkled on whiteGlistening in the dusk.Look how it trusts you soMy star-eyed son.Light kindles on your faceIn the gloaming,So bright as to bring tearsTo my eyesWhen you look at me.~~~I was finally inspired to do a kidnap fam painting! I went for monochrome this time because I didn’t have enough energy for full colour loll Plus I really like this old, Victorian-like portrait style!As for the poem, I’ve recently had to read Hilda Doolittle’s poetry for school, and I was rather inspired to give another try at poems!
