While this is more than we could see with the naked eye, Great Basin’s dark skies were still probably the most clearly I’ve ever seen the stars and milky way. Worth the trip to the remote middle of nowhere Nevada. #findyourpark #darkskies #natureisamazing • • • • • Side note: I’ve been working with this photo for a while and it kept bothering me that I thought I messed up the exposure or something because of the color streaking. Finally looked it up, turns out it’s called airglow. It basically is similar to the aurora in that it has to do with photons of light from oxygen molecules, but can be seen all over the world instead of the poles.
