He wrote Shirley Bassey’s first released song, Burn My Candle, which was banned in Great Britain as too suggestive and had the word sex in it. I included him in this list for his featured appearance in one episode of The Saint, as an amiable Sergeant whose job was to stick with Simon Templar, who could be easily bribed with food and drink.
